Alcohol or diet: There are many causes of an abnormal ast but the most likely is drinking too much alcohol. If the alt were also high then fatty liver caused by overweight would be more likely. There are also rarer additional causes like gallstones, pancreatic disease, viral infection, medication, and immune hepatitis. Best to discuss with your md or a liver specialist.

If : If you have not already done so, you should be evaluated by a rheumatologist to assess your joint involvement.  They can confirm the diagnosis, and come up with a treatment regimen that usually involves medication and exercise.  They will also monitor the progression of the disease.

Yes...but!: Niacin in conjunction with statins has largely fallen out of favor.  Also ryr in addition to statins is redundant as ryr is a natural precursor to statins.  How about Atorvastatin 80mg & fish oil ?

Yes- stop RYR too!: Of course tell your doctor! try stopping both simvistatin & red yeast rice as that also has statins, then get your lipids rechecked in a 3 months, including LDL subparticles. Also ask your doc to check cardiac CRP & homocysteine. Fish oil, like anything else should be taken according to manufacturer's directions or according to your health care provider.  Fish oils have many beneficial effects if used properly and if a reputable product is purchased.  Some fish oils are alleged to be contaminate.

It depends: For routine cardiac prevention the recommended daily dose includes the epa and dha components together. This part should not exceed 1200 mg.  800 mg-1000 mg generally recommended. However, if you are taking it to lower your triglyceride level, higher doses like 2000 mg recommended. Not to exceed 4g. There is a higher risk of bleeding at this high dose so a doctor should see you first.
