Similac: I hope you are concerned with your child's nutrition and not to make your child 'chubby'.  You should discuss what you are feeding the child with its pediatrician to be sure the baby is getting the proper nutrition for physical and mental growth.

Not necessary: If your infant is doing well on the "total comfort" similac formula-there is truly no need to switch unless you desire (ie; if more costly/difficult to find). Nutrition is adequate and as you embark on solid foods now or in 1 to 2 months, you will find that formula will slowly decrease and become complementary to your infant's future diet of solids and fluids.

my boy is of 2weeks now and we are giving him morinaga bf-1 (2 scoop per 60ml - avg 2hr) we experienced some problem so visited dr. and he suggested us some colic drops and also asked to changed formula milk to similac total comfort 1. plz guide me?

Yes and no: There are minor differences in these formulas which are designed to feed developmental needs for their stage of development, not their size. That said, I don't find that there is much difference in the product, but don't use size as the main reason for the change.

Needs evaluation: Spitting and crying are both common symptoms in infants, but if your infant's behavior is unusual for her, it is important that she be examined.  This is especially true for a premie, who is more susceptible to infection.

Depends on concerns: Both formulas can be helpful with reflux but only similac total comfort helps with constipation.  The s26 gold ar has added cornstarch to decrease reflux but this is still a cow milk formula.  If your infant has problems digesting cow milk then the similac total comfort would be a better choice.  Also remember that similac total comfort is formulated for 6 months and older.

Natural methods.: Different formula can affect different babies in different ways.  You can just try and see which works for your baby.  At 7 mths it would be fine to add some high fiber fruits to his diet, perhaps a couple oz of prune juice a day to help with constipation.

Colic: the problem with babies who are colicky is that they tend to cry for a period of 3-4 hours at least 3-4 times per weeks. Colic can be treated with few methods, although not proven to be effective as documented in the literature. Try using probiotics. It helps to comfort the baby's stomach. Try massaging the baby's tummy. Also giving frequent baths. Change formula to spy formula might help.

Guaiac Testing!: I'd bring a stool sample to your pediatrician,to run a guaiac test.Mild protein allergies often get overlooked.If the test comes back positive for microscopic blood in the stool,it reflects irritation and inflammation w/in the gut.More common than people realize.If positive,GI docs will tell you to go right to Alimentum/Nutramigen,as 20-30% of milk protein allergies can have concurrent soy issues.

S26: The S26 offers predigested proteins that may be easier to absorb for your babies sensitive intestinal tract. Make sure you feed Breastmilk or breastfeed first, then supplement with 1-2 ounces of formula after your baby stops showing interest in the breast. Also take care how you are mixing the formula. Don't use breastmilk instead of purified water.
