ONLY TIME: ULTRASOUND AND CT SCAN COULD NOT DIFFERENTIATE BLOOD FROM FLUID,ONLY TIME AND BLOOD LEVEL CAN DETERMINED IF THE BLEEDING WERE SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH TO REQUIRED A SURGICAL INTERVENTION OR NOT.SO THE AMOUNT OF ABDOMINAL PAIN,AND THE PATIENT VITAL SIGNS,AND THE CHANGES IN THE BLOOD LEVEL OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WILL ALLOWED THE SURGEON OR THE GYN TO DECIDE ON THE TREATMENT PLAN,

Yes: Every month when a woman ovulates there will be a cyst on one of her ovaries at least 2 centimeters in diameter.  That cyst will rupture to release the egg.  Most women do not know this has happened, but some women will have cramps or pain around the time of ovulation.  Sometimes the cyst will fill with blood and be very painfull, usually it resolves on its own - but some will require surgery.

Not likely the cause: Typically ovarian cysts don't cause bleeding unnless they rupture or get twisted onto their own tubes etc...Light bleeding after sex is quite common for those having a male partner who is a bit on the long-side--repetitious trauma of the penis pushing/thrushing on the cervix which can bleed a bit. If u have some cervical polyps, fibroids, infections, cancer, bleeding is even more common. Good luck.

Obgyn: Without knowing the details it is hard to comment. Perhaps you are being seen in the ER and not in an office by an obgyn. If so schedule a visit in the office with an Obgyn (our office is close to you) so that you can be properly evaluated.

No: Benign tumors or Ovarian cysts do not cause postcoital bleeding The problem must be somewhere in the vagina or cervix.  Discuss with your gynecologist

i had my last period a little over month ago and never stopped symptoms got worse and i was clotting and i fainted went to hospital sunday and was told i had a ovarian cyst ruprture and was sent home. i'm still bleeding and i'm concerned?

Ovarian cyst rupture: If a serum HCG test was not done at the hospital, and bleeding is still continuing, get a serum HCG test done to be certain about pregnancy. Ovarian cysts when they rupture can cause pain, but not usually vaginal  bleeding. Pregnancies outside the uterus (ectopic), need immediate attention.  If positive, see your gyn physician without delay.
