It depends: In an uncomplicated pregnancy (healthy mother with normal anatomy and well developed stable fetus), vaginal delivery is ideal (this is how nature intended it to be!!).  C-sections are necessary in some cases to preserve the health of both mother and baby, but this is still a significant surgery which should not be taken lightly.

Trial and error: Every patient tolerates or not various combinations of oral contraceptives that your MD will sometimes have to change formulations when that occurs. Not every pill will be "perfect" with each patient and your first step is to talk to your treating MD who is Rx ing the pills about your concerns to determine what is right for you. That having been said, most low dose pills will minimize dryness.

Not documented: Oral contraceptives can be absorbed vaginally, but the efficacy of this method or side effects have not been documented.

Good Nutrition: Good nutrition with appropriate weight gain is critical to having a normal size infant.  Do the appropriate testing for things like gestational diabetes at the right time.  Avoid early elective inductions of labor.  Have a good line of communication with your care giver and know their philosophy of labor and delivery.

Depends: The biggest risk (death, encephalitis) for a newborn comes if the mothers 1st outbreak comes during or near the onset of labor/delivery. About 30-40% will become infected. During secondary outbreaks the risk drops some, with 5%+ becoming infected. Many can control secondary outbreaks with meds and deliver vaginally but others schedule a CS before the water breaks.

Yes: Depending on your gyn doctor, you may get an iud. These are very safe and effective but should not be used if your lifestyle includes "swinging"
it is preferred that you have at least one child and are in a monogamous relationship. Those are not hard rules, just guidelines.
