Here you are:: Trileptal or oxcarbezine is a 40 yr plus drug with some fairly nasty issues on occasion.  Short term can cause low sodium levels, raise cholesterol, affect liver function, or even affect hematological function, but can also promote nausea, drowsiness and dizziness.  Long-term might encounter osteoporosis, and drug-drug interactions.  Likely best to not drink alcohol with Trileptal.

Headache plus: Common side effects include headache, fatigue, and stomach upset (nausea).  These are often present in the beginning or after a dose change.  The higher the dose, the more likely they occur.  Low sodium in the blood is common in older people and in others who take other medications that have a tendency to do the same.  Sodium levels should be monitored.  In general, Trileptal is a safe drug.

TRILEPTAL SIDE EFFEC: Used in bipolar disorders, mood instability and behavioral problems, the side effects are bone marrow  suppression and liver enzyme problems. Lab.  Should be done  every 3 months. Rashes, nausea, headache, dizziness, dry mouth and constipation are also experienced.

Varies: If it was helping your sleep and you did not taper down slowly and did not replace than it will take long time to feel better . Seroquel (quetiapine) not only helps with depression mood swings also hep with sleep .Not sure Trileptal you were taking for seizure or mood stopping suddenly have risk of seizure

Definitely: Both Navane (thiothixene) and Trileptal can make you feel tired or less motivated. But they are also both important "brain stabilizers" (for mood, thought and seizures), and stopping these meds suddenly can make things much worse. Work closely with your doctor to make any gradual adjustments in doses or medications if this "lazy" feeling is stopping you from doing the things you want to do in your life.

was on trileptal 150mg tab at bedtime, doctor dcd it on 4/7/20 . was it safe to just stop taking it? 
used as mood stabilizer, no seizures. have been feeling more tired since the med stopped. should i be worried of side effects from it being dcd?

Probably not: 150 mg of trileptal is a pretty low dose so it is reasonable to stop it all at once, but you could try taking it every other day for a couple of weeks then stop - to see if  that helps the tiredness.  It was likely making your sleep deeper, so you may not be getting as much deep sleep now, but your body will likely adjust to that over time

Hyponatremia risk: Trileptal is basically Tegretol with a hydroxyl side group that prevents conversion to "Tegretol 10-11 epoxide)". Lamictal is supposedly slightly better for preventing manic episodes. The problem with Lamictal is you have to titrate it slowly to minimize the risk of Stevens Johnson Syndrome. You can get to a therapeutic level of Trileptal in days rather than months for Lamictal (Less SJS risk)

Beta blockers: The beta-adrenergic blockers are the most commonly used prophylactic migraine medications. Inderal, (propranolol) Corgard, Tenormin, just to name a few. They have longer half-life and more favorable side-effect profile. Take care.
