Yes possible: Staph infection are some difficult to treat, some they become resistant to antibiotic, they calling them merssa. If the staph affected the joints and the bone they could become chronic and hard to treat. They also could other problems?

May be none: If you can bend your knee without pain, the likelihood is that the joint was not affected. It would help to lose weight, not easy.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low fat milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex. 
Get HPV vaccine.
