i quit smoking 3 years ago, but ive become addicted to nicotine lozenges which helped me quit. is there a benefit for quitting the consumption nicotine? what are some short term side effects that ill see? what are long term benefits for quitting?

: You have a craving that you need to address to successfully stop replacing one addiction with another. You decide if it is beneficial for you to quit consumption of nicotine since it does not nourish your body. You could taper the use of nicotine lozenges to nothing after you find yourself and love yourself regardless of external love. It is good to have stopped smoking and the poisonous part.

Heartburn mainly: too much nicotine can make you sick - nausea, vomiting, stomach upset and heartburn are common.  Very high doses of nicotine can cause many more problems, including heart arrhythmias and death.  People generally don't need more than 1 lozenge (2mg) per 2 cigarettes that they smoked.  I hope you are successful in quitting and congrats on making a good choice, but don't overdo it.

Use With Caution: Nicotine lozenges are used as part of many smoking cessation programs.  Irregular or rapid heartbeats can occur.  Smoking while taking these lozenges can lead to nicotine overdose.  Symptoms of overdose include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, weakness and a rapid heart rate. In case of overdose contact poison control in the U.S. 1-800-222-1222.  Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) enhances risk of nicotine addiction.

That's the problem: Tobacco companies producing e-cigs have not had to do any research because courts ruled that it is just another kind of cigarette, and the fda has no jurisdiction. The propellant is propylene glycol, which is in an oil. What this does when inhaled is simply unknown in humans. The additives, flavorings, preservatives and whatever else is in them also have not been studied. We simply cannot say now.

Nicotine patches: I don't think you will get side-effects from expired nicotine patches.  The effect of the nicotine might not work well due to pass expiration date.

Nicotine side effect: Most common side effect of nicotine nasal spray: headache , mouth/throat irritation, dyspesia/cough-.

A few: the nicotine can cause stomach upset, heartburn and reflux esophagitis, especially in higher doses, and very high doses of nicotine can cause nausea, vomiting and worse, but this rarely, if ever happens with the gum, lozenges or patches. The gum is very thick and hard to chew, and can cause TMJ (jaw) pain, pull out loose fillings and even teeth, so that lozenges are preferred (for me).

No: The problem is that nicotine levels may not get high enough to satisfy the urge if you smoke a large amount.

Still toxic: E-cigarettes are not "safe."  they are not zero nicotine, they are zero smoke. The nicotine keeps you addicted. Many adverse effects, including increased airway resistance (lowered ability to breathe), starts right away upon use. Also toxic ; carcinogenic chemicals are still inhaled (such as formaldehyde ; propylene glycol). Take the leap ; quit! try smoking cessation class or nicotine anonymous.
