what causes inside of your cheek to swell? i have a noticeable red swelling inside my right cheek that is painful. i don't remember biting it. did have a cough drop on that side. what can i do?

: Sudden onset of red painful swollen area on the inner cheek can have several causes. The most likely are an apthus ulcer ,  an ulcer caused  by trauma to the area or a salivary duct stone . Codeine : If you are asking about 8 year old cough syrup then likely only sedation and possible abdominal pain or nausea. Don't take meds that old, who knows what else could be in there now or what chemicals have broken down. You wouldn't drink milk that old!

Not usually: Atenolol belongs to a class of medications call beta blockers.  Medications in this class can cause bronchospasm which may be manifested as cough, particularly in patients with asthma.  You mention also that you have dizziness which may be related to the medication.  See your physician for evaluation.
