A Drink/Bloodwork: Some obs do this at their office, or you go to a lab. The test is done first thing in the morning after you have not eaten overnight. They draw your blood to check the "fasting" (pre-breakfast) blood sugar, then you drink a bottle of liquid with 75 grams of sugar. Blood is drawn at 1, 2, and 3 hours after the drink. If 2 of 4 levels are elevated then you'll be diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Pregnancy & Diabetes: Pregnancy has way of altering glucose metabolism and Insulin sensitivity made worse as the pregnancy progresses.  You may not have gotten an "f" on the test but you may have gotten a "d" which can affect your fetus. Please heed your OB md's advice.

Hypoglycaemia: No, I would consider this test to be within normal limits unless you had symptoms of hypogycaemia such as dizziness or feeling faint

Big baby: If your baby is symmetrically large, you may just have a big baby.  If the abdominal circumference is large in relation to the rest of the baby, talk to your OB about the best method for delivery.

going for the 2 hour glucose test for gestational diabetes. i was told to watch my sweets and bread. usually i eat 100-170 carbs or more depending and 50g of sugar or more. i cut down to 138 carbs and 40 g sugar day before. is this cheating the test?

Oral GTT: Read guidelines for oral GTT uptodate.com Should control diet for 2 weeks before. I would worry more about cheating your baby and you;   Don'f fool with mother nature Also read about gestational diabetes.  Good luck.
