Muscle pain likely: If there is no appreciable pain and just discomfort and there are no urinary symptoms like blood in urine, pain during urination or frequency and there is no radiation of pain to groin area than it is not related to your kidney and it may just me a muscle spasm etc causing your symptoms.

Depends: Could be muscle, kidney, intestines or other issue. If it is still bothering, the only way to tell is to be examined and possibly run tests.

Likely muscular: Hi!
Pain in this area is often due to muscle spasms of the back, however, kidney infections are also common causes.  Lots of other causes to consider based on your age, any accompanying symptoms, how many days the pain has lasted, any recent injury or illness, family history...  It would be a good idea to check a urine analysis and to have a doctor examine your abdomen and back.

Get mri of back: See an orthopedist- could be facet joint pain or simply muscle origin. Also get a uring sample to make sure this is not a kidney stone.

Here are some ...: If what you have felt doesn't fade and disappear in 5-7 days, you need a timely professional attention, evaluation, and care/counseling. Before seeing Doc, collect &amp; bring the info on the onset, degree, duration, evolution, &amp; progress of the symptoms over time to Doc for analysis + physical exam + possible tests as needed so to deduce possible causes for proposing reasonable Rx/care/counseling...

Muscle strain: As long as you are not experiencing symptoms into the legs (numbness/tingling), your localized back pain is most likely due muscle strain.  As a general treatment strategy: application of ice, and consider wearing a simple back support for a few days. If able, NSAID treatment for a few days can reduce inflammation and pain. If symptoms persist a visit to your doctor would be advised.

Causes: There are many causes from acid reflux and gall stones to partial bowel obstruction, kidney problemas and few other abnormalities.  See physician for evaluation.

Liver: Gall bladder, kidney ?  If it hurts with eating fatty foods, it's probably your gallbladder. See your G.I. Doctor for further evaluation..

Probably not: Feel the skin over your head back there &amp; see if you can find the source of the discomfort.  It may be a swollen lymph node or even a pimple or small abscess.  If you find something like that, it will probably go away on its own.  If not, or if symptoms persist/worsen, go to Urgent Care
