Do Some Research: This sounds like a "classic" case of a rotator cuff problem. That is, the tendons that move and/or stabilize the shoulder. If you're careful, it can heal on its own, but if there's been no progress after 4-6 months, go see an orthopedic doctor. Before that, avoid straining above shoulder height. Look on the internet for stretching and mobilizing exercises, use Motrin and apply ice after activity.

Rotator cuff: Your symptoms of pain @ night and pain w/ movements away from body suggest your rotator cuff is involved. Pain can be from the rot cuff getting 'pinched' underneath the point of the shoulder( impingement syndrome).Try taking a NSAID for a few days. If your pain continues see a board certified ors for examination/ x-rays . Best of luck.!

i have got shoulder pain its a sharp achey pain and goes when i'm sat and hurts when i'm standing it also hurts to move my arms the pain is worst when i move my arms behind my back i am carrying a moderately heavy bag but i was long before this?
