Recheck/culture: I would be logical for both of you to be cultured for STDs and take medication for BV. It is uncommon to see this infection persist for 8 months.

Yes: You should both be fine as long as you protect yourselves throughout ALL of your activity.

Bacterial vaginosis: The causes of BV are mysterious. Most research shows no problem in the male sex partners of women with BV, and treatment of the partner makes no difference in chance of recurrent BV in women. OTOH, other data suggest that BV is sexually acquired some of the time. If your BV persists or recurs after treatment, plan on avoiding sex with your partner or consistent condoms for next few weeks. YES: Not necessarily an STD: caused by an overgrowth of normal female vaginal bacteria.

Recurrent BV: It's possible your BV is related to receiving oral sex, but not necessarily. It would be helpful to know the frequency of the oral sex exposures and whether you're sure BV is entirely gone between those episodes. Have you been properly treated (metronidazole orally)? Many women have borderline BV, with fluctuating symptoms. Metrogel or boric acid capsules may help prevent it. Discuss w/ doctor.

with my boyfriend we started having unprotected sex a month ago. the first time, i noticed a fishy smell that lasted a few days, no sti, ive been treated for bv. the second time and third time same. should we just stop having unprotected sex?

: See your GYN physician for an exam and "wet smear". Trichomonas can cause a "fishy smell" , and is sexually transmitted. Make sure any prior sexual contacts for you or your partner also are contacted if test is positive.

i get uti then vag infection after weekend of sex. it's not g, c, bv, yeast or trich. i see my boyfriend only once a month. keeps happening.  ideas?

Honeymoon cystitis: Is what we call it.Its not uncommon for women to get a UTI after sex.Try to be sure to empty your bladder just before sex, but , it still may happen.Discus with your gyn.

hi , ask crazy it sounds i had unprotected sex the first night of me being treated for bv with flagyl. my boyfriend ejaculated in me and my bv symptoms started back the next day . did i mess the antibiotics up or will it continue to work. 7 day treat?

: The BV treatment needs a week at least to clear up the discharge. Any unprotected sex is dangerous and can lead to many problems.
