Alternatively, depending on which antibiotic and how serious your infection is, maybe best to continue treatment while doing things to reduce stomach irritation, like taking it with food. Antihistamines, time: Benadryl, loaratadine, cetirizine, fexofenadine all should help...along with time to rid the antibiotic from your body. Avoid getting hot/overheated, as this can intensify an allergic rash. Good luck, and be sure to mention your reaction to you healthcare provider! Best to you!

Probably: By that time, the antibiotic may be absorbed.  If it's an extended release, then it may not be completely absorbed.  For all antibiotics, you should not take them on an empty stomach and actually should take with food.  It reduces the chance of abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Abx has side effects: All antibiotics can have side effects and GI side effects tend to be most common. Nausea or even vomiting can happen.  Make sure you don't have airway or breathing troubles or rash that may suggestive of allergic reaction. Another possibility could be a stomach virus infection that would be completely unrelated to the antibiotics. Try to take with food might help to alleviate the GI side effects.

my 9 month old daughter is taking augmentin (5 day course,2.5ml twice a day) for tonsillitis.this morning was the 5th day but there is still alot of antibiotic left in bottle.does she need 2 finish everything in the bottle or do i throw away the rest?

I always treat 10 d: While there are some who prefer a shortened treatment course I always treat documented strep for 10 days. It is the duration of treatment that is most consistent with a cure &amp; lack of recurrence. On the other hand if no strep test confirmed it to be strep, I would consider stopping since the complication of Rheumatic fever is not seen in infants who have positive strep.
