i'm currently using anti fungal cream for a ringworm on my arm. do i have to cover it with a bandaid? would it spread to other people if not bandaged?

Not usually: It is actually better to leave it uncovered, or loosely covered with your normal clothing. To prevent it from spreading, wash your towels, sheets, and clothes regularly. If you’re doing an activity in which the affected area might come in contact with other people or surfaces – such as going to the gym – then it’s a good idea to cover the area temporarily.

Fungus thrives in warm and moist conditions, so cool and dry is best.

Unusual: Your problem may not be ringworm but from something in your clothing if the only involved area is covered by your clothing.  New clothing may have been treated with formaldehyde which you may have problem with or it may be from your laundry detergent / anti-static agent.  Make sure that your washing machine is rinsing correctly. See dermatologist if problem continues.

Yes: You are unlikely to contaminate the pool or transmit the infection to anybody else.

what creams help treat ringworm infection, my dr gave me a steroid cream called triamcinolone acetonide ointment usp 0.1% it's made it worse i bought equates athletes foot cream with clotrimazole usp 1% to put on it. will it help???

: If it is truly ringworm as the reaction to the triamcinolone would suggest, the clotrimazole applied 2x daily should clear it up over time. You would see improvement within a week but would take longer to appear cured.

what is the strongest otc cream for ringworm?

They are similar: There are several available--lamisil, lotrimin, tinactin (tolnaftate) etc..Are similar in efficacy. You don't really need strong, just have to be the right medicine. The strength available are appropropriate/adequate to treat commom skin fungal/ringworm infections--just use as directed by their instructions. If not better in about 2 wks, consult doc for proper diagnosis/treatment. Good luck.
