Black Mold Symptoms: Black mold  is caused by wet basements, poorly ventilated attcs, moistures in the bath room and dirty duct work.The short term symptoms are, allergic symptoms, headaches, and fatigue.The long term symptoms are chronic sinusitis, bronchial asthma, and weakened immune systems which can lead to recurrent infections.

found black mold in room of my 1week old baby. is simply moving to another mold free room a long/short term solution. we plan to move house next month?

Black mold: Use  NIOSH 95 mask that can filter particles,and gloves  clean with Tilex ( if is &gt; 3 square feet call a professional), move the baby, try an  air purifier in baby's room ( Home depot SPT magic ~ 60 dollars). Consider dehumidifier  as mold grow in higher humidity&gt; 70 %. Discuss with the pediatrician

my husband keeps getting pancreatitis for an unknown reason. could his frequent exposure to black mold be the reason?

Doubtful: "Black mold" is blamed for everything and I suspect there's an allergy syndrome that's real, but you need to keep searching for a cause for his pancreatitis. A leaking ulcer near the pancreas elevating amylase is one fooler. Some cystic fibrosis alleles, type I/V hyperlipidemia, and of course mutant trypsinogen and a couple of others, are infamous causes of hard-to-diagnose pancreatitis. Good luck

Dark adaptation: The pupils will constrict when going from dark to light to decreased the light coming in.This is immediate.Retinal adaptation is slower.You may notice that when you go into a dark room your ability to see slowly increases.This is retinal adaptation.Conversly when going from dark to light things will seem too bright until the retina adapts.Typically your eyes will not be harmed by normal light.

Varies: This would vary depending on the sensitivity of the person involved with the dose of the exposue being a factor as well.  I would expect that removal of all exposure to the black mold as well as providing for elimination of other inciting factors such as dust, dustmites for symptoms to be resolved within 2 to 4 weeks if not sooner.

Allergy consult: The toxic effects from "black mold"exposure are often exaggerated.  A certain percentage of people exposed to it may develop asthma, hay fever, sinus infections recurrent pneumonia and etc. The best treatment is to move out of the place where the black mold has been found until the problem has been fixed.  If problem continues, see an allergist who can help you in pinpointing the cause and Rx.
