Accepted Answer

No: Shingles is caused by reactivation of the varicella virus which is also the cause of chicken pox.  It is a totally different virus than herpes simplex virus and should not affect your herpes simplex virus antibody levels.

Shingle: The diagnosis is generally made by physician, by taking history and a thorough physical examination. Anti virals started in early course of disease could significantly decrease the severity of post-herpetic neuralgia. But on the othet side, , you are having hepes  simpkex 1 or 2, then you and your partner need to be first tested and later discuss treatment options.

Not shingles?: The fact that these lesions recur suggest that they are due to Genital herpes. Don't worry about it over fifty percent of americans over the age of thirty have this infection. 
Good idea to rule out HIV and other STDs but most likely they will be negative. 
Herpes means snake in greek so you know they are painful. You can try acyclovir cream or tablets of acyclovir or valvyclovir during episodes.

Not likely: Shingles is moat often attributed to the chicken pox (hsv family), not genital (hsv2). Dr can test, if indicated for clarification.

Accepted Answer

False positive: IgG tests are possible.  There can be some cross-reactivity with other viral antibodies.  The definitive diagnosis of specific viruses including HSV 1, 2 and HIV is a western blot test. This also tests for antibody protein but to the specific virus. I believe getting an HSV2 western blot should be your next step. Good wishes:)

five years ago i had some blisters on my leg. i went to see 2different doctor and both conclude it was shingles. after i did a blood test and they came back hsv2 positive? do i have shingles or herpes

Shingles is caused .: By varicella-zoster virus which is a herpesvirus like herpes simplex 1 and 2 are. Not enough info to say what the blood test meant.

No: The two are different viruses and antibodies to these viruses are distinguishable.

Herpes zoster : Having herpes zoster means that your immune system was stressed. This can be from numerous issues, we can screen only a few on based lab testing.  For the first time in my experience, I have seen many young patients with herpes zoster, probably related to the stress of the pandemic.  You should see a doctor in person

i had very mild herpes zoster just 8 blisters and i am cured now my pregnancy test is positive now after 5 days of medicine .can it affect the fetus ?

Zoster: It should not affect the fetus.  It is a reactivation of the virus that you have had since chicken pox (or the vaccine) in your youth.  With shingles (zoster), the virus does not travel through the blood stream - it travels locally down a nerve and to the skin.  If anything it will boost your immunity to shingles/chicken pox during pregnancy.
