Treatment: Keratosis pilaris is harmless and does not require treatment unless skin is itchy and overly dry. Moisturizers are used to treat contain lactic acid and urea. KP: Kp is typically found on the back of the upper arms and thighs. They look like smin colored or slightly red bumps with small flaky centers. There is no cure, however, am-lactin and lachydrin (lactic acid) are products which can help.

Low dose steroid: Usually, this occurs on the backs of the arms. You could scrub and smooth them with a loofa; but in order to treat the mild inflammation of the follicles directly, you could use an over-the-counter 0.1% hydrocortisone cream on there once or twice a day.

Lac-Hydrin: Keratosis pilaris is not the same as atopic dermatitis. It is an inability of the skin to exfoliate, to turn over if you will.  It is common and passed down as autosomal dominant.  The best prescription for this is Lac-hydrin.  Alternatively you can try moisturizers that have alpha hydroxy acid or glycolic acid in them.

Yes: KP is most commonly found on the upper arms, thighs, and cheeks, but can be found elsewhere. KP usually gets better with age.
You may may find that skin care aimed at preventing excessive skin dryness, including using mild soaps or soap-free cleansers and avoiding hot baths or showers, helps. Also, using skin moisturizers can be helpful. In more severe cases, talk to your doctor about further care
