Can be dryness: If the pain is when you open your eyes, you may be experiencing dryness, or a recurrent erosion.  If this is a common event an ophthalmologist can examine your cornea and see if you have a basement membrane disease that can cause this,  and advise treatment.

Yes, but...: ...in ANY case, you need to seek medical care.  Migraine headaches, foreign bodies &amp; Herpes Virus are among the possible causes of your symptoms.   Also, contact lens wearers are more susceptible to ocular infections and corneal abrasions than non-wearers.  If you can't get in to see your eye care specialist promptly, you should go to an urgent care center or emergency department.   Please!

: If you have eye pain, see an ophthalmologist to evaluate entities such as glaucoma.  Would be amazed if an aneurysm could be the cause of your symptoms.  Stop seeking alternative opinions and instead get an expert to assess.

New Condition?: I see that you suffer from HYPERthyroidism and have a history of headaches.  Either one of those problems are GREAT reasons to suffer eye pains.  Other causes would include problems within the eye itself having to do either with retinal pathologies or sudden pressure changes in the eye such as acute glaucoma. Bottom line is that you could use an ophthalmological exam to start with maybe neurology

From many causes: Sharp pain like stabbing can be due to lot of causes, and it can be serious, you should consult an opthalmologist asap.It may be something benign especially if you do not have any other symptoms such as vision loss or problem, dizziness, headache, naosea or vomiting.And associted with other medical conditions like diabetes, hypertension etc.But still you need to see eye md to rule out serious conditions.

Consider dry eyes: Rest covers your lids and always feel better. You need to see your eye doctor and have them do a test to see if you have exposure issues. Always use moist warm compresses for better lubrication to coat your eyes with natural oils from your eyelid's meibomian glands. Also using lubricating drops and ointment at night helps. Get it checked out!
