Likely reflux: This story suggests you have excessive stomach acid irritating the lower part of your swallow tube.Eating can dilute the acid but it also mechanically passes over the irritated area,causing pain. Try to avoid caffeine/nicotine and eating before bedtime. Don't lay down after a meal. Tums (calcium carbonate) may give brief help. but you may want to confer with your doc about it.

What you're describing could be a sign of heart disease, but may also be referred pain from your gallbladder. I highly recommend you see a doctor ASAP to evaluate this further. If accompanied by trouble breathing, sweating, or the pain worsens, go to ER.

Varies: There are multiple potential causes, and I would not hesitate to be seen for an accurate diagnosis.  Among the more common causes are a rotator cuff injury or an injury to the labrum, both of wich are critical to movement in the shoulder.  If needed, an MRI can usually show the issue as well.

Could be a number: Of things. If it is getting worse, not getting better, or if you notice any other issues, go to the er.  After severe coughing issues, you can irritate your diaphragm, even cause a mild spasm that then hurts when you cough. Coughing too hard can even cause partial tears. Many other things can cause pain there too, including heart, pancreas, abdominal aorta, etc. So if it doesn't improve, go to er.

: If you do not have any other symptoms like cough, fever or shortness of breath, you probably have costochondritis, a benign inflammation at the connection between the rib and breast bone or cartilage rib. You can take Advil or Motrin or Ibuprofen OTC 200 mg x 3 tablets with full stomach, every 6 hours, for 2-3 doses. If the pain goes away, you probably have this condition.
