MANY possibilities: Numerous possibilities:  In that region are found bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, lymph nodes, apex of lung, nerves, and I probably forgot some!  If you have a lump there, see a doctor promptly.  If pain persists, see doctor  to tell him/her where it hurts, when, how often, etc.  Without these details and a physical exam, we can only speculate.

Costochondritis: Typically Costochondritis is a common malady which .usually lasts 3-4 weeks and can resolve with rest, (avoid actitivities which increase pain)use of anaprox (naproxen) 550mg 2x a day. Many times the cause of its onset is hard to determine but can be secondary to minor repetitive trauma, or post upper respiratory infection (viral or bacterial)

Sounds more like a : Costochondritis or inflammation of the cartilage in that area rather than a neck problem.  It usually is self limiting and is typically see. After a cold or flu illness.  Otc medication can help.  If it persists, see your doctor.

Arthritis: Arthritis of either end of the clavicle joint with manubrium or with acromion could be tender. A lymph node above the clavicel could be a soft tissue reason. I would have a physician examine that.
