See podiatrist: One possibility might be Morton's metatarsalgia.  A visit to a foot specialist would well be worth your time and effort.

See an orthopedist: You need to see an orthopedist.  There may have been an injury to a meniscus or to the bursa under the patella that needs to be treated

Get a diagnosis...: There are a number of things that can cause pain in the ankles. This is a very nonspecific symptom.  A few possibilities  are fracture, nerve pain, sprain and tendon problems.  I recommend that someone pain in these areas should be seen by orthopedic foot and ankle surgeon for a definitive diagnosis so that appropriate treatment can be started.  You can find one in your area at www.Aofas.Org.

ANKLE SPRAIN?: Is this the result of turning your ankle? You should have xrays, stress xrays, and if not improving after several weeks of treatment, maybe an MRI.

Ankle injury: Wrap the ankle, elevate it and rest. Stay off it as much as possible. Nsaid's (ibuprofen, naprosyn) will help.

Warm water soaks: Warm water soaks will help open  up the tissue if there is a foreign body in the foot.

Tendonitis: Achilles area pain often is tendonitis. If the tendon is tender to the touch, esp. more than the opposite side, then it's probably the Achilles. Consider causes (exercise, poor footwear, etc.) and try to avoid exacerbating factors. Rest, ice, a short-course of NSAIDs, better shoes would be considerations. To be safe: Xray would be recommended as the 5th metatarsal is a common bone to fracture as there are a lot of muscle attachments to the bone. Any one of which that be causing a tendonopathy.

: If and when it becomes uncomfortable enough, she will see a doctor. There is no benefit to your worrying.
