Drug Testing & Hair: No. Absolutely not. These metabolites are buried within the hair fibers and they will not be 'lost' with 'detox' shampoo. Until you cut your hair you will test positive for any drug you have used.

Chlorine: Chlorine does damage hair. Keep your hair as healthy as possible by rinsing your hair after you get out of the pool. Shampoo and conditioner won't undo the damage unfortunately but they can keep your hair smooth. Try using a swim cap to save your hair from the harsh chemicals.

See doctor: Are there actual live lice present, or just nits? Lindane will kill nits, but can't remove them (they are cemented to your hair, and will just grow out as your hair grows).  If there are live lice present, you can consider changing to a Permethrin based lice shampoo, but definitely work on decontaminating your house; wash/dry clothes in hot water and high dry cycle, vacuum, etc.

Controlling dandruff: Dandruff (seborrhea) is common. Shampoos with zinc, salicylic acid, selenium, or coal tar are sold in many stores. Nizoral shampoo (contains anti-fungal) is also available. Doctors may also recommend cortisone or kenalog (triamcinolone) sprays. Prevent dryness (don't wash hair too often). A primary doctor or dermatologist can look for psoriasis, eczema, or fungal infections if unusual or worrisome scalp symptoms.

DHT: Dihydrotestoterone, is a hormone, excess levels of which have been implicated in male hair loss and prostate problems. Ketoconazole may produce a decrease in testosterone making it useful for treating prostate cancer and there are studies suggesting efficacy in regrowing hair.

Doubt it seriously.: I know of no logical reason that beer would decrease dandruff - and you'll smell like a brewery besides. You'll find many effective anti-dandruff shampoos in any drug store; if those don't work a dermatologist can prescribe a stronger prescription shampoo. As for hair shedding, you normally shed 60-100 hairs per day, all of which will grow back. If you're losing more than that, see a dermatologist.

Check hormones: Shampoo is not likely the answer to your hair problem. Have your hormones and iron level checked by an endocrinologist who can look for a treatable cause of your problem.
