Many neg effects: Childhood sexual abuse (often occurs with other maltreatment) is associated with many negative outcomes e.g., substance abuse, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, low academic achievement & poor economic traction, criminal behavior, difficulties with parenting and risk of abusing own kids/ selecting abusivd partners low stress tolerance, sexual problems, trust issues, low self esteem, etc.

No: Even people with fairly fortunate histories can periodically suffer really bad nightmares. Yet, they "can" mean there are troubled things filling the mind. Talk w/ a good therapist.

In counseling, you can resolve and release the trauma which may still be stored in your body memory, and move towards a more balanced life.

No universal answer: Some people do adjust normally to abuse, and may not show any unsual behaviors. Some have specific or sexual functioning problems, and others suffer more disruptive disorders in terms of mood stability, ptsd symptoms or develop maladaptive persoanlity traits or disorders.  Care must be taken not to assume abuse from current behavior.  Treatement by psychologists and/or psychiatricst can help.

Yes!: Early intervention with psychological help is very important.  Long-term harm can occur if issues are not address and verbalized by the victim, who in some ways may even feel responsible.

Maybe: There are some medications that help with symptoms of ptsd, like ssri's (prozac, zoloft, paxil, (paroxetine) etc) but these only help with some symptoms, like moodiness, being too panicky and general anxiety. Some medications help with nightmares, like some blood pressure medications (prazosin, clonidine) but little else. However, therapy can help all those symptoms and can even cure them if done correctly.
