2 days too early!: See someone at the Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) Clinic.

It may be way too early in the infection for the STI tests you took, to test positive. Have yourself retested at an STD clinic; during that visit, the details of your case may prompt the clinician to prescribe you antibiotics for at least a non-gonococcal urethritis.

Prostate? CPPS?: These are atypically mild symptoms for sexually acquired epididymitis. The only STD causes of epididymitis (gonorrhea and chlamydia) should have responded rapidly to levofloxacin and should have had positive tests. My guess is no STD and probably no epididymitis. Maybe prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CPPS)? Happily, these usually are harmless. Keep working with your doctor. Good luck!

Epididymitis: The vast majority of pts with epididymitis are not capable of transmitting the infection to others sexually.  A small percentage have prostatitis/urethritis caused by an std organism as the underlying infection which can descend down to the epididymis.  Most of the time those men will have symptoms of std along with, or preceding the epididymal inflammation.

It can: Epididymitis is inflammation of the epididymis, which is a tube located at the back of the testicles. The tube stores and carries sperm. It is caused by an infection, usually a bacterial or a sexually transmitted infection.  Symptoms can include: painful and swollen scrotum, pain with intercourse and ejaculation, blood in the semen.  See your doctor for testing and antibiotics.

Will vary.: The treatment of epididymitis depends on the cause. In younger men, it is usually due to gonorrhea or chlamydia, which are sexually transmitted infections. Treatment depends on the antibiotic, and can last up to 10 days. The symptoms, however, may persist for weeks despite adequate treatment. I would not resume sex until you and your partner are evaluated & treated.

Maybe OK, but...: ...be careful if your husband is about your age. Over 90% of epididymitis under age 35 is due to chlamydia or gonorrhea. Negative tests don&#x27;t always exclude them; urine testing misses up to 10% of gonorrhea and chlamydia. If the slightest doubt, you definitely need STD testing yourself and perhaps treatment as if you have gonorrhea and chlamydia. And no sex until this is sorted out. Good luck.

Unlikely...: Epididymitis is rarely acquired from oral sex. It could happen due to gonorrhea, but rarely. What are your symptoms? Pain in both testicles is almost never epididymitis, which almost always is one sided, with marked swelling and tenderness. And non-improvement on antibiotics is evidence against infection of any kind. Google "chronic pelvic pain syndrome" and see if it matches your symptoms.

: As in my previous reply, yes:  epididymitis usually is very painful with swollen testicle. If due to STD, usually there is penile discharge, and symptoms usually start within a few days of infection. STD is an uncommon cause at your age, more likely a non-STD urinary tract infection. Testicular pain without swelling, tenderness, etc usually is not epididymitis. See a urologist. Good luck.
