if i have sex before a pap smear test, will i get dysplasia?

Maybe: Dysplasia (precancerous changes in the cervix) is most often caused by hpv virus infection.  Having sex with a man who carries hpv can cause this.  Most women have been exposed to some type of hpv virus if they have ever been sexually active.  In young women with mild dysplasia, their immune system usually fights off the hpv infection and their pap smear becomes normal within 2 years.

No.: The appearance of cervical cells under the microscope is not affected by the presence of semen from the day before. No need to tell the doctor (he will see sperm reported on the pap smear interpretation).

: The comment about your Cervix being "Unhealthy" needs to be followed further, by an evaluation by your Gynecologist.
Unhealthy is a broad term but you should make sure that your cervix does not have any evidence of Cancer which requires further testing to make sure that cytology is negative and you do not have HPV infection.
Discuss this matter with your current gynecologist or seek a 2nd opinion.

if endometrial cells are not cancerous why would my doctor be concerned about it my hpv was negative pap said normal i do have large fibroids premenopausal 51 so confused as gynecologist not concerned found the cells on pap had sex that am before pap?

Some basics: The womb is an organ with several tissue types. The endometrial lining (tall cells) are located inside while the cervix (outer opening) is lined by a different flatter cell type. Endometrial cells shed/fall out during menses &amp; are occasionally found on a pap smear.  Their presence does not indicate cancer but sometimes lead a doc to do an ultrasound to verify it is not an issue.
