have been suffering from nasal congestion, running nose & sneezing in ac and cold weather for last 3 months especially during night and early morning. what could be the reason? please suggest.

Rhinitis: Your symptoms sound concerning for rhinitis. It is due to nasal inflammation which can happen due to mold, mildew, viruses, dust, dust mites, dander, pollen that can circulate in your immediate environment once air-conditioning is turned on. Having a HEPA filter and regularly performing maintenance can help. Also, maintaining optimal humidity would help. Consider certified service of your AC unit.

Allergies: Seasonal allergies can present with symptoms of congestion, sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes.  Spring time in the north east can be problematic for seasonal allergy sufferers.  Upper respiratory infections (the common cold) and sinus infections present differently, usually involve a fever and a general feeling of unwell versus seasonal allergies which cause congestion in otherwise well patients.

URI: It sounds like you have an upper respiratory tract infection.  It may be viral, however, if it has gone on for longer than a week I would seek medical attention.  Also, it is flu season.  I would seek help sooner rather than later because treatment of the flu is indicated within the first 48 hours.

Nopostnasal drip?: This could cause 1 sided throat pain. If not, see an ENT  Dr. and get scoped in the nose to see the back of the throat. They should be able to diagnose your problems. If you do have postnasal drip,try flonase or rhinocort nasal spray and see if this helps.

Exercise rhinitis: Some people have airway problems only associated with sports and physical activities. This is not uncommon with dry or cold air, such as in colorado. Non-allergic nasal congestion and drainage may occur after running (exercise-induced rhinitis) or cold-air exposure (skier's nose). A similar disease is isolated exercise-induced asthma. A chronic sinus infection can also be underlying.

Congestion: You are not allergic to exercise, rather your body temperature rises and it triggers the mast cells in your body to release histamine leading to the sneeze and congestion. Known as a cholinergic reaction.

Several: If you are allergic and have significant nasal obstruction most of the time, the decongesting effect from exercise may well allow your nose to run and sneeze after allergen exposure. Another possibility is the increased exposure to outdoor allergens when running. You often see more rain drops on the car's windshield when you drive faster the same occurs with running vs walking.

If you try the: RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) for your joint and take some ibuprofen/ tylenol around the clock for 24 hours, along with topical ointment or massage therapy, and things are not improved, then you may need to do further stretching for 24-48 hours.  If it continues to hurt around the "hip" area, it may be inside the belly where the problem lies.    Go see a healthcare provider then.

Multiple possibiliti: I would have child examined, especially if there is a fever. Congestion could be related to pneumonia.
