my uncle (76 years old) has cerebral palsy and is in hospice for kidney disease since dec. 2021. he is not on dialysis, can i get an estimate for his life expectancy?

: We would have to have some data such as eGFR,BUN,creatinine, electrolytes, presence of anemia or diabetes. Surprisingly most deaths from CKD occur before end stage disease. Cardiac causes from high serum potassium, myocardial infarction,congestive heart failure and cancer are some common causes. I wouldn't be able to estimate your uncle's life expectancy without more information.

Who knows!: So sorry about your son. All of his conditions you could think might cause a shorter life span for all sorts of reasons, but with good care  one never knows. Accidents, poor nutrition ( because he doesn't eat well), progressive brain deterioration if repeated seizures, infections, general stress with its harmful physical effects, all could contribute to premature death. Variable: Cerebral palsy is a term covering a broad range of motor handicap, many of which are associated with intellectual handicap as well.  Children with spastic diplegia (legs more involved than upper extremities) may have normal or near normal intelligence.  So may choreoathetoid patients, those with writhing movements of the extremities, who communicate with technologiy devices.

Not high: Unless you have strong risk factors for preterm labor, the odd are not high that  you will  deliver early.   Stressing over this possibility won't help either.  Try and relax.

Variable disorder: The defect in CP relates to an injury to the motor control centers in the brain. This primarily effects movement & posture. It may or may not involve any of the other thinking/behavior/speaking centers in the brain. Most CP patients have  normal abilities to communicate & think. It is those with additional issues that may have problems.

Call your doctor: You need to contact your doctor so that he will see you. You may need treatment to help with the spasms. Now get a hold of your doctor

No: CP results from injury to brain cells, generally from random accidents in redirection of blood flow during pregnancy.Transient cord incidents, where the kid cuts flow thru his/her cord, maternal low blood pressure, infection in the womb etc. Are all major contributors. Oxygen deprivation after birth is another cause.Maternal diet has little to do with this process.

is it possible that a baclofen pump be installed in a 4-year old child who weights 23 kilograms and has severe spasticity as a result of cerebral palsy?

Cerebral palsy: Based on age and weight the child should be eligible for a Baclofen pump, a pediatric neurosurgeon could easily do the assessment to see if the child is eligible.

Sorry: Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of non-progressive non-contagious motor conditions that cause physical disability in human development, chiefly in the various areas of body movement.
No cure for cerebal plasy.
