Reaction : They may be able to reduce the dose of the drug to decrease your reaction and then gradually increase. However the only person to deal with this is your oncologist. Good Luck

Yes it is!: This is the current recommended chemotherapy(along with concurrent radiotherapy) treatment plan. Hopefully it should work well. But it will take 6-8 weeks to see the full benefit.

Yes its a good alter: If your husband has allergy to Taxol, (paclitaxel) then using Abraxane as an alternative is a good decision. This treatment works well in about half (50%) of the patients, not in the others. You will know within 6 to 8 weeks of chemotherapy treatments.

Multiple, see below.: The most common adverse reactions are low blood counts, irritation of your nerve endings, nausea, vomiting, muscle & joint aches, diarrhea, irritation of your oral cavity, fever, swelling, and abnormalities of your liver function tests.  See your doctor if you have any of these symptoms to see if your dose needs to be modified.

i have had 9 weekly infusions of taxol & herceptin for breast cancer. i was severely  constipated, nurse suggested senokot s. i have been using it daily for probably 8 weeks now and i feel like my anus is pushing out. help! what should i do?

Hemorrhoids?: Sounds like you may have hemorrhoids.  Recommend you return to nurse for recommendations re: increased oral fluids, fiber (Senacot is one of many), and maybe anal steroid suppositories.

Possible: Also, quality of diet e.g. Diet rich in phosphate like dairy products may at times do that with fluctuations of urine ph. Prompt clearing is reassuring. However, persisten cloudy urine may suggest a problem like infection.

1.5 to 15%: Depends on what you read and the type of agent causing anaphylaxis, the reported incidences ranged from 1.5% to 15% although i think the incidence is under 0.1% annually. The severity was not detailed in the reports but a survey done about 10 years ago noted that there were 1500 deaths/yr from anaphylaxis in the us- some cases of unexplained deaths might not be included.

See an allergist: An allergist is specialty trained and uniquely qualified to assess and treat severe allergic reactions.  Even if the cause is not currently known, an allergist can assist in finding the cause and preventing another reaction.

Depends: on the reaction, which can range from some rash to full anaphylactic shock to other complications, first step is to stop the medicine, at times it might take weeks for the rash to go away with certain antibiotics, just keep away from direct sunlight as much as you can while you have the rash, follow up with your pcp/allergist, goodluck

Everyone's Unique: Everyone 's immune system responds differently to proteins that are not our own.  Some people develop allergies after one exposure, while others it may take 30 years.  Some people NEVER develop allergies to certain chemicals.   Unless you're set on coloring your hair, the safest product is no hair color at all.
