At your age: If your physical exam is normal (this means you have had a "check up" yearly physical in the past year these symptoms are most likely related to ANXIETY (The name for your throat condition is most likely "globus hystericus" an "old fashioned" name for "lump in the throat" without any physical explanation. Look inward: It could be any number of things, but if there are no abnormal medical findings and I were a gambling man, I'd bet on anxiety.  Next time, think back about what *immediately precedes* this sensation (whether an external event or internal thoughts and feelings) and see if you notice a connection.  Try *psychotherapy* (talk therapy aimed at understanding and insight), not just behavior therapy.

Without : Without an exam, it's difficult to say what exactly is causing your problem.  A sore throat or a "lump in the throat" sensation that persists more than a few days could be something such as a chronic infection or gastroesophageal reflux disease.  If you have a hoarse voice, it could be a vocal cord nodule or hemorrhage from overuse.  Even cancer, especially if you smoke, drink or have been exposed to the hpv virus, can cause a "lump sensation" when you swallow. Because of this, it is important that you see your doctor or an otolaryngologist (ear nose and throat specialist) to find the cause of your throat problem so it can be properly and effectively treated.

Globus sensation: The lump in the throat is commonly referred to as a globus sensation. Probably an abnormal sensory signal to the brain. Don't know the cause, but common with reflux disease, and not dangerous. The hoarse feeling could be many things, most obviously smoking. Inhaling heated gas full of particles that cause many types of cancer on a daily basis is bad at any level. I recommend stopping this 1st.
