Yes,: Although many people injure themselves on purpose or accidentally without last harm, self injurious behaviors (sib) can produce lasting damage and even death, depending on the kind of injury--severe head banging, for example.  More important, perhaps, is to understand the need to hurt oneself, because usually is a symptom of significant emotional distress of some kind.

Therapy: Even at 6, it is never too early to start some behavior therapy for her.  Have her see a Child Psychologist to get the ball rolling on this before her behavior becomes severely unhealthy.  Best wishes.

No: No this is not your fault. The birthing process if childs shoulder had difficulty coming out of mothers body can cause this issue and you might not have any control over this.

can you take methadone during pregnancy? i ask this between i have a bad shoulder and neck injury and have been on pain killers for 2 years.

Maybe: Any medication can affect the fetus, but people do remain on Methadone while pregnant. Speak to the doctor prescribing the Methadone to see if the regimen should change at all. Make sure your OB knows.  Good luck.

is chiropractic care safe for "whiplash" injury during pregnancy i was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended at a stoplight. two days later at my doctor's exam where i complained of neck, back & shoulder tightness and pain i was given a pregnancy test

Chiropractic : Chiropractic care is safe and often effective for various pains during pregnancy. If you have found one that works with pregnant women, hang on to him/her.

Chiropractic care may not be recommended by your ob/gyn because of lack of understanding of the underlying principles. ( i really don't understand it but i'm not a chiropractor). Other reasons are liability concerns particularly because we don't understand chiropractic. In my office I am ok with chiropractic and will even suggest to women that they may seek chiropractic care when other treatments aren't working, say for example sciatica or back pain in pregnancy. It is difficult, however, to recommend a specific chiropractor.

can a jaw/head injury hurt during second trimester of pregnancy? my nephew bumped his head into my jaw pretty hard, felt like it shook my head a bit. have a small headache but otherwise feel okay.

Trauma: Sounds like you will be ok. But I think you are asking about your unborn child. S/he is protected in a sea of amniotic fluid and should not ber harmed by this occurence.

how important is it to get a tetanus shot in pregnancy. i haven't had one in 10 years and ethnic background is indian. no injury, asking as routine ?

Not important: Unless you are injured or have a job or hobby like gardening that could expose you to injury.  Ask your GP---I believe it should be covered by your MSP.
