Infection : Lymphangitis is as an inflammation of the lymphatic channels that occurs as a result of infection at a site distal to the channel. Advise that you be evaluated for an infection and appropriate treatment.

how long cold sore contagious? had a lesion just below lip line 6 days back. took oral anti virals and anti viral cream for 5 days. its a scar like skin now. no scab or anything. am i still shedding or healed?

: Outbreaks are most infectious the first 2-3 days and probably rarely transmissible to other persons after 5-6 days, assuming healing is well underway. But it's still wise to avoid direct contact with other persons (kissing, oral sex) until healing is entirely complete -- intact skin, any scabs have dropped off, etc.

does cutting over healed scars cause skin to heal separately? it did not close like normal wounds. how do i fix this?

: How old was the scar before it reopened.?  If it was over a year old, normal healing should take place. A wound specialist can evaluate and advise you if the new wound isn't healing well.

Stretch marks?: If these are spontaneous or developed around puberty they may be stretch marks. Unfortunately there is not much you can do to improve these. I would discuss the nature of the lesions with your dermatologist or primary care physician.

Scarring: Any form of chronic inflammation of the skin can result in scarring. Technically, the vagina refers only to the tube leading from your genitals to your cervix, and if you are referring to the skin of your pubic areas or the areas around the genital lips then the answer is yes, this can happen. From injury?: Scars generally heal on their own, based on hte type of injury which caused these. If there is redness or any discharge, pl get it checked for an active infection, which may need antibiotic prescription. Feel good!

Can only Improve: You cannot "erase" scars.  Poor scars can be improved through the following methods:

1) scar massage
2) silicone sheeting (a kind of silicone tape you where over the scar)
3) steroid injections
4) laser treatment (helps remove coloring)
5) scar revision (removing the scar and starting over).


Consult with a plastic surgeon to find out which combination of these would best work for you.

Happy Skin: Skin is the major protection of our delicate internal tissues from a harsh environment, it is susceptible to injury itself. Sun, shaving and many chemicals  are very irritating as well as constant exposure to moisture reduces protective skin oils and sets the skin up for injury.  The trick is to  apply good protective skin cream frequently and minimize ongoing damage.  Clean it using gentle means.

Depends upon the age: If this is a new injury  - i would suggest waiting a period of 1 year for the scar to "mature."  if the scar is older,  there are a variety of prescription medications called "hydroquinones" that can be used under controlled supervision.
