YES: Alcohol affects everything.  It is a toxin.  You have t decide if it is worth the risk and this will be determined by the severity of your disease.  It will also affect the metabolism and affect of any medications you may be taking.  Safest course is to not drink it.  The more severe your sarcoid or more meds you take the greater your risk.

Question: If a person has sarcoid and if they have gastrointestinal involvement (clinically evident GI involvement occurs in less than 1% of sarcoidosis), then liver involvement is probable. Have your GGT and alkaline phosphotase checked. If normal, less danger w/ moderate alcohol. The main thing is to determine extent of sarcoid involvement so it doesn't dominate your social, sex, work life.

Kombucha: There appears no good evidence that kombucha is good for anything but is good to be avoided. It has some relationship to molds but i can find no literature relating kombucha to sarcoid.

Unaswerable: You do realize that we are really physicians here.  Medicine has little to say about alcohol use unless it is being abused or causing damage to one's health.  I believe that unless you have health consequences to your drinking then drinking rarely and slowly is a good piece of advise to remember. Moderation in all things.

Possibly-low doses: There have been associations (which does not necessarily mean that alcohol is the CAUSE of the effect) between low dose alcohol (up to 2 drinks per day in men and 1 drink in women and men over 60) and improvement in HDL cholesterol (the "good" cholesterol), with a lower rate of coronary heart disease/heart attack, which are the major cause of death in the western world. Exercise works even better.

Alcohol: Effects depend on the amount consumed. Small to moderate consumption causes reduced risks of blood clots , stone formation , diabetes & rheumatoid arthritis.  Large consumption causes impaired memory & vision, anemia, cardiomyopathy, hepatitis, cancer mouth/esophagus, gastritis, pancreatitis, diabetes type 2, depression, anxiety, psychosis, insomnia, panic, cravings.

Pain where??: If you ever put alcohol on a cut, you know that it is toxic to tissues - it burns!  That is not just true of isopropyl alcohol but ethyl (beverage) alcohol as well.  People can get pain in their mouth and throats, esophagus, stomach and duodenum from drinking excessive alcohol, or for those with particular sensitivity. It can also inflame the liver and pancreas, causing abdominal and back pain.

One drink per day: In a healthy individual one drink per day on average is considered okay. Drinking large amounts of alcohol on a regular basis has damaging effects on multiple body systems with well-documented negative effects on brain, liver, cardiovascular system, connective tissue/skin, immune system, blood, & so forth. If you cannot stick to one drink per day consider avoiding alcohol. Do not drink with meds.

Yes, but marginal : The research studies that show benefits of drinking alcohol are to be viewed with caution. First of all it is not valid for habitual users or people with a predisposition for addiction. This creates a dilemma... You become and addict if you are using alcohol daily. The daily use increases the 'tolerance' for alcohol... I.E. You need higher amounts of alcohol for the same effect.

For every + a -: You've probably read the stories of one glass of wine or spirits per day does this thing that's great for you.  On the other side of this argument is a body of research that says that no amount of alcohol is ever good.  Use in moderation or responsibly please, but don't expect any "health benefits".
