Study points to yes: Saline irrigation can be beneficial when used for a short period of time. A study presented at the 2009 College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology suggested that chronic use of saline was counter productive. Although it removes pathogens when used from time to time, chronic use may remove the "good bacteria". Usually 1-3 weeks of use once a day is enough. If symptoms persist, see an ENT.

how many different categories of fish allergy exist? is it salt-water vs. fresh-water fish?

No category: There isn't any categorization of allergies between fresh vs salt water fish. Allergy to one fish does not mean you are allergic to all, but may have higher risk of developing such. Shellfish does same thing, but the incidence of allergies to shellfish is higher.
Symptoms vary from minor irritation to hives to anaphylactic reaction/shock.

Allergy treatment: The best way to treat allergies is avoidance of the triggering allergen.  For environmental allergies, antihistamines and topical nasal steroids sprays are very effective.  Allergy injections are very useful for long term treatment.  There is no role for "detoxifcation" in the treatment of allergies.

i am coughing and have a sore throat. what should i do? i also have allergies n asthma

Breathe...: First; try to expel the water; as long as you have no difficulty breathing you should be fine.  You may want to drink a cup of warm/hot tea with some honey in it; or a lozenge to soothe your throat...But other than that you should be fine.  If there is any doubt in your mind that you are not well then by all means call your doctor and get checked out, or visit your local emergency room.

everything that i eat or drink except water has a bitter taste. this started a few days ago. i gargled with listerine and salt water. i brushed my tongue. i ate a piece of pie and it tasted bitter. i have not eaten any pine nuts, unless they were in food.

This : This somewhat common problem has a huge differential of potential causes such as: 
- nasal drainage 
- nasal polyps 
- bad tooth 
- gastroesophageal reflux 
- salivary gland obstruction/ dry mouth 
- medications 
- a neurological problem with the taste receptors

and that's just scraping the surface!

you should see your doctor or an otolaryngologist (ear, nose and throat specialist) for an exam and a work-up. Hopefully, if they can find the cause, they can fix the problem.

As far as pine nuts go, check to labels of the foods you are eating.  Since nut allergies are so prevalent, companies are required to label foods that may have tree nuts (including pine nuts) in them.

Yes: Sterile salt water or saline can be used to clean cuts and scrapes.  That does not translate as ocean salt water being necessarily safe.  There can be bacteria present in significant enough counts to transfer illness via ocean water to cuts, scraps, or ingestion (which does incluse raw oysters).

Yes: Salt water in a natural antiseptic  and decreases inflation in open wounds.  Short term use only especially if you have blood pressure issues and also because the rinse is slightly acidic and can etch enamel with long term use

Lysine: Lysine is an Amino Acid and harmless. You can probably get it at a health food store. Take one tablet or capsule a day until it clears.
