Yes: Be careful though because Indomethacin and alopurinol are both processed by the kidney so combining them can cause kidney damage, albeit likely temporary. Check with your doctor about whether combining them is the best regimen for you and what your maximum daily dosages should be based on your other medical conditions and your baseline kidney function.

If indeed the : Diagnosis is correct which is made by "tapping" the joint and revealing mono sodium ur ate crystals under polarized microscopy then other mess should be tried like possibly uloric. Allopurinol is for an overproducer of Uris acid, perhaps you are an underexcretor of Uris acid. This can be found out from a 24 hour urine test.

Yes: No problems doing so.

The question to ask is whether it's all for the same cause of pain - if it is, then what doctors sometimes do is stay with one drug and increase its dose rather than adding another.

However, if they're for two separate causes of pain - like the indomethacin is for gout inflammation and hydrocodone/Tylenol for something else - then having both sounds especially reasonable.

Possible: But diet, weight control, and control of purines in diet may reduce gout and uric acid elevations.
As med students we tested high purine diet and several got transient gout!
if you do the Allopurinol sudden stoppage may be bad form!

i have gout. i was prescribed indomethacin. it works wonders, but i think it may be causing vision changes and tiredness. i am also on sertraline (just upped from 50mg-100), allopurinol and vyvanse (lisdexamfetamine). suggestions?

Not the nsaid: Indomethacin is a non steroidal (NSAID) usually doesnt cause the symptoms you describe . Probably the sertraline check with your doctor.

Tylenol (acetaminophen) is ok: Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (such as lexapro) may enhance the antiplatelet effect of NSAID (such as Aleve/Advil). NSAID may diminish the therapeutic effect of Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors. That being said, many of my patients take both with no problems.
