non-allergic motor-vaso rhinitis have been diagnosed with the above ailment, have been to 7 ent mds and 4 internists, have tried every medicine there is and nothing helps. runny nose, burning, teary eyes, can anybody help? please?

Chronic : Chronic nonallergic rhinitis is not a specific diagnosis, it is given when a person has sneezing, runny nose, congestion and drainage, but no allergic cause can be found.  We have four ways to determine allergy (blood and skin tests, direct challenge, or strong evidence from historical correlation).  In the us the first two are most commonly used, but in europe nasal challenge is sometimes used (spain has some of the world experts).  When skin and blood tests don't show an allergic cause but nasal allergen challenge does, we call this entopy (allergy isolated to that body area).   Nasal challenge studies have shown that some patients diagnosed with non-allergic rhinitis actually have challenge proven allergic triggers.  In the us, allergist can perform skin testing to common environmental triggers; such as tree, grass and weed pollens, molds, dust and mites, and animal danders.  Sometime a cause can be missed because only blood tests are used (and this testing method is not very good at diagnosing nasal allergy). There is also the possibility of not testing for the right things, mouse and rat for example can cause severe allergy but are not usually looked for unless we get the history that there is a rodent problem at home or work.  Similarly there can be allergy to cockroach or ladybug.  Foods can cause nasal and eye symptoms as well but will usually also cause mouth or digestive problems as well.  Food preservatives and dyes can also be hidden causes.  Medicines as well, such as hormonal replacements, blood pressure medicines, medicines for prostate problems, topical nasal decongestants, and pain medicines such as aspirin.  People with sensitivity to Aspirin and related NSAID medicines like Ibuprofen can have nasal and eye symptoms and are at potential risk for more severe life threatening reactions.  If a person is very sensitive they may even react to naturally occurring salicylates in food.  Rarely more severe diseases can have prominent nasal symptoms; diabetes, sarcoidosis, wegener's, polychondritis and uremia.  Infections; leishmaniasis, leprosy, tb, syphilis, sporotricosis, blastomycosis, histoplasmosis, coccidiomycosis but a person would have other symptoms and usually be quite ill.  Ideally if a cause can be found and the trigger avoided then medicines can be avoided.  If no cause is found or it is unavoidable various treatments to try alone or in combination would include; nasal flushing with clean preferably boiled water, salt and baking soda, oral or topical antihistamines, ipratropium nasal spray , cromolyn nasal spray(over the counter), or nasal steroid sprays.  Leukotriene blocking medicines originally designed for asthma treatment are not steroids and are approved fro nasal symptoms, I have many patients that have responded well to singulair, (montelukast) Accolate (which has a generic) or zyflo (very costly).  I hope you find relief!

i've been prone to sneezing burning eyes ,no redness and runny nose since 3 months non stop. never had a history of allergies.what could be the cause?

Suspect allergy: Symptoms suggest allergy.  A less likely possibility would be sensitivity to some chemical in your environment. See your primary care physician.  He or she will be able to diagnose your condition or refer you to an allergist.

Dr. can check throat: New throat pain can be from a strep throat infection (antibiotics are needed), a cold or influenza (antibiotics usually not used), or from some other cause such as allergies or irritants. Usually, a person sees the doctor if the sore throat is bothersome, recurrent, or doesn't go away quickly (mainly to check for strep or flu). Throat lozenges and Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Motrin can lessen pain.

Allergies or URI: Sounds like this may be allergies or a viral uri. Conjunctivitis may cause eyes to tear, burn and water, leading to stuffy nose.
You may wish to try over the counter allergy drug like Claritin and zyrtec, along with a nasal anti-inflammatory like flonase.  I would see your local otolaryngologist or allergist for allergy testing and definitive treatment. For conjunctivitis, see your doctor.

lots of clogginess in nose and cheek areas. watery/burning eyes. fullness in face + mucus. history of sinus. for about 3 weeks now. suggestions?

CT sinuses, Rx: Some would treat empirically first with antibiotic 10-14 d, systemic decongestants (Sudafed), nasal steroids - and then get the CT afterward. Depends on exam, story, etc. Get seen, resolve infection concerns and then see an allergist to find out why this is happening. They are the best for accurate testing to find cause; a teaching center is near you w/ great allergists.

doctor says i have swollen adenoids in my nose , which could be causing my flactuating blurry vision and burning eyes . could this really be the cause?

i was diagnosed of having a hiatal hernia and having silent reflux. i never had the food allergies or running nose, burning eyes and cough until after the hernia wrecked my life. could nissen fundoplication fix this?

: The symptoms you describe are not the usual symptoms of a hiatal hernia. Pl see a reputable GI internist and discuss this with her/him. If your symptoms are attributable to them fundoplication will help. Hope you feel better

Decongestant: Congestion – saline nose drops or netti pot. For anti-inflammatory effect &amp; mobilizing mucus- homemade chicken noodle soup.  Hydrate- lots of water/clear broth/ add honey &amp; a small amt. of lemon juice to Chamomile tea.  An over the counter decongestant can also help.

Sinus problems: Most likely this is an infected or blocked sinus and it could also be the acute events around the start of a flu or cold.  Check with your family doctor for persistent symptoms or any debility.
