See PCP very soon!: sounds like you strained your shoulder, and perhaps arm, wrist or hand, and should have your doctor examine it, especially if you have pain, or achiness from your muscle strain to make sure you don't have a torn rotator cuff or something else. Best to have it checked soon. We need your trauma history to really know what's going on.

Need a work up: This could be an issue within your shoulder by itself or it could also come from a problem in the neck or cervical spine. It is difficult to say with the information you provided. I would recommend you talk with your doctor who can do a workup to find the cause of your shoulder pain.

You : You need to have a complete medical evaluation.  This could be caused by a joint problem in the shoulder or it could be coming from your spine such as a disc.  As you are having weakness it is very important that you have an immediate medical evaluation.  You may need imaging studies or a nerve conduction test.

All tense muscles!: Heat stretch and massage. Magnesium is also vital. It will help relax the associated muscles, decrease stress, stabilize sleep and help other meds and therapy to work efficiently. Self or profess massage, chiropractor, yoga, heat, stretching all are needed. My favorite in my practice is acupuncture and myofascial tissue release. Take b-complex 100 too.

Some ideas: Carpel Tunnel Syndrome can give hand and shoulder symptoms- usually more symptomatic at night.   With trauma you can injure your neck and have referred pain that you feel in shoulder and hand.  It is a common combination for those who suffer paralysis from a stroke - but not usual in someone your age.  You will need a Neurologist or Physical Medicine Doctor to sort it out if it persists- Good luck

See your doctor: Since you are now having trouble picking things up, you really should see a doctor.  Shoulder pain can be very debilitating in and of itself, but you may in fact be having nerve damage from your neck that is causing both your shoulder to hurt and weakness in your arm or hand.  If you are having true weakness, this is rather urgent. Once you have nerve damage, sometimes function does not return.

Can happen: Depending in the surgical procedure you had and the position in which you were placed for the procedure, the shoulder may become sore afterwards.  Symptoms usually improve after a short period of time and with a little physical therapy.
