my left calf feels tight and both of them swell during the day, what could be causing this? its been a ongoing problem. i do exercise at the gym.

Calf issues: Could be edema making them tight and swell.  Other possibilities are always a blood clot/ or phlebitis, etc. Get an eval since you appear health, and exercise regularly, yet you are still getting swelling and tightness.  best wishes.

Birth control?: Are you on birth control medication?  If your calf starts to swell with pain, you may need to see your physician regarding a blood clot.  Birth control puts you at greater risk for possible deep venous thrombis (blood clots).  Best of luck.

See your doctor: There are many things this could be. Having a foot that is cold to the touch is always a red flag that should be evaluated by your doctor as soon as possible. Pain radiating into the calf can be anything from tendonitis to a blood clot. I recommend seeing your doctor soon.

pain in left calf. been to emergency twice. both say sprained muscle. done nothing to cause it. no swelling or clot signs. dr won't scan. i'm worried.

2nd opinion: If you have not had a Doppler ultrasound to rule out a clot, you may want to go for second opinion.  The exam for a blood clot is only 50 percent sensitive, meaning that exam findings can be misleading.  You could very well not have one, but in a person with no injury and calf pain it should be done on almost all patients in my opinion.

Be careful: Calf pain and swelling especially in female using contraceptives should checked to find if this duo to blood clot in the calf, that is the most important thing, beside that it could you tour your triceps muscle and that cause the swelling.

Hard to say: I am not sure what type of work you do or type of shoes you wear. If you stand up for a long time, wearing high heeled shoes, this may be reason for suck pain. Please consider seeing a podiatrist or orthopod for evaluation. also what type of pain? Is id dull pain, sharp shooting pain?

Vascular surgeon: I recommend that your vascular surgeon reevaluate the status of the left calf veins. Another ultrasound may be ordered. Are you taking an anticoagulant?  If vascular surgeon finds no obvious venous explanation for your symptoms, then referral to an orthopedic surgeon may be in order.

Anytime one : Is experiencing pain in the calf a blood clot should be ruled out. With regards to your toes this is a less important issue as the calf pain takes precedence and you should follow up with a foot doc.

Had backache long?: Have you got any radiating pain from the back down into the calves or possibly on the left side all the way down to the foot into the big toe? Has your doctor considered ordering an imaging study of the back such as an MRI?you may have either a compression of one of your lower lumbar nerve roots ornarrowing of your spinal canal in the lumbar area which could also affect smaller nerve root fibers.

what could be causing the continuous pain in my lower back an inch u der my belt. its is a numbing feeling down my right leg. i cannot bend over. i need to bend both my knees to tag a calf and i cannot use the weight on my the leg i  the left one?

Low back pain: You have low back pain with sciatica.  This is associated with some process irritating your sciatic nerve.  This can be from disc,  vertebral fracture or arthritis.  A common non bony cause for sciatic pain is pyriformis spasm.  This is a spasm of a muscle deep in your gluteal area.
