Depends: On the seveerity of the hemorrhoids and the symptoms. Proper diet and fluids wont get rid of them as they are normal venous structures that have been abused by your diet and bowel pattern. Diet, Banding, OR..: Many people with hemorrhoidal disease will benefit from adding a fiber supplement and increasing water intake.  If that is ineffective, small rubber bands can be placed on the base of the hemorrhoid to allow them to fall off.  If this is ineffective, surgery is always an option.

Use stool softener.: Both as treatment and prevention.Eat more fiber, drink more water and exercise more.Hemorrhoids are basically veins that have been injured by our bad habits.Don't let your stools become very hard, the job of the colon is to recover the fluid in the stool;if we do not drink enough water, or eat only highly processed food (no fiber) and don't exercise(the helper to bowel transit) we can expect problems.

No shortcuts: You must be examined to determine therapy. If severe, surgery is indicated. If moderate, the use of Rx crams ( Anusol HC), Proctofoam will help. I always suggest sitz baths 4x/day for 15 minutes: 1-2 lbs of Epsom salts in 4-6 inches of very warm ( not hot) water and soak your bottom as noted. In the end, you will need a rectal exam to check for internal and external hemorrhoids.

Be sure your pain is not due to an anal fissure as that is sometimes present and needs different treatment.
