It could be serious: The two most common levels in the cervical spine to herniate are the C5 - C6 level (cervical 5 and cervical 6) and the C6 -c7 level. The next most common is the C4 - C5 level, and rarely the C7 - t1 level may herniate.
C4 - C5 (c5 nerve root) - can cause weakness in the deltoid muscle in the upper arm. Does not usually cause numbness or tingling. Can cause shoulder pain.

Need to know symptom: Superior = top part. Endplate = part of bone that forms the "shelf" of the 4th &amp; 5th vertebra in your neck. The irregularities (not a smooth surface) can point to spondylitis or arthritis of the neck. The nerves that come out from that level (C4, C5) go to the forearm &amp; are used for sensation &amp; movement. If you have symptoms in that area, the X-ray can explain it; otherwise, it's meaningless X-ray

Forward slippage: Anterolisthesis means forward slippage. That is, the C2 (2nd cervical, or neck) vertebra has slipped slightly forward of C3, which is slightly forward of C4, etc. Normally the vertebra are stacked up in-line, like a stack of coins. If one of the "coins" (vertebra) is too far forward of the one below it, the tower of "coins" can fall. Similarly, the spine can fracture or cause arthritis. TTYD.
