retino ac gel vs ziana? what is the difference between the two? is one generic and original is there any difference in quality or effectiveness?

Acne Vulgaris: The difference is that ziana contains tretinoin and clindamycin. Retin-a gel is brand name for tretinoin only and has no antibiotic Clindamycin in it. Like to think that combination is more effective but actually it depends on whether you have more inflammation than nodularity.  You use Renova cream as well. It is also tretinoin. Light therapy helps in acne. Wish you good health.

Meds: Many patients do well with over the counter benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid preparations. Some patients require topical or oral antibiotics or retinoids as well. If the over the counter meds alone don't control your acne after a month of daily use, see a doctor for additional treatment options. It is important to be persistent, and some patients 'get worse before they get better'.

Retin A [tretinoin]: Retin A [tretinoin] is very useful for acne and brown spots. There are more potent forms in case of poor response. Clindamycin is usually a waste of money. Neither of these is of much use for warts. Sometimes Retin A is used for planar warts on the face but it does not do much.

: That should be fine. They are very similar products. Differin used to be prescription too - so doctors would try one and switch to the other if needed. With oral medicines, you sometimes have to taper off one before you start the next.

No: there is a generic form of this combination med in the US, but it is also a prescription med.For those who have gone through the various strengths of OTC benzoil peroxide and not gained control, the prescribed meds remain the best alternative available.
