Vomiting with cough: This is common.  A bout of coughing increases intraabdominal pressure and may cause a gagging sensation that leads to vomiting.

Acid Reflux: You are likely getting drainage from somewhere.  Since the problem is retching and gagging, it is either coming from your nose or from your stomach.  The most common problem that manifests itself at nighttime like that is from acid reflux.  In the sleep literature, we have found the people reflux significantly between 10 pm and 2am.  Reflux burns.  Nasal drainage doesn't usually burn as much

This can't be very: convenient or comfortable!  Of course, you have excluded pregnancy/morning sickness as a cause. Other things that I can think of include post-nasal drainage (PND) which is irritating and drains when you get up in the morning, possibly worse if you are a smoker. This would be akin to gastroesophageal reflux.  Perhaps sinus inflammation contributes to the PND.  Pursue an eval with GI/ENT/Prim Care:)

why does the vitamin bottle make me retch when i open it up?

May not be good: Some vitamins have a very strong odor to them because of the way they are made.  Multivitamins and b complexes are notorious for this.  It could also be that they are not well made.  To check the effcacy of your vitamins, put them in regular vinegar.  If they dont dissolve in 15 minutes, throw them away.  They have no bio-availability.  I recommend physician grade products, capsules are great.

They go together. : Gagging, retching and vomiting are friends that like to accompany each other. One invites the other and soon you have all three. Hopefully they will go away. If the vomiting persists you may need to visit a doctor.

Don't know but...: Easy to check with home glucose testing kit you get in pharmacy

bt the way get pregnancy test, if you've been sexually active

if not hypoglycemic or pregnant, many other things can cause your symptoms- see md.

Blood?: Dark/black vomit is always worrisome, because it can be partially digested blood.  At the same time, it could have just been something you ate.  If you have any bleeding or questionable vomit again, you should get the emergency department.  Hope this helps!
