i am constantly retaining fluid in my thighs and stomach. always around my menstrual cycle but noe much more frequently. what is causing this and what?

Many causes: Cardiac, metabolic, endocrine and musculoskeletal problems are suspect in your case.  Infrequent exercise and obesity may contribute to symptoms.  Fluid retention requires evaluation by a doctor.  Please see your doctor for this.

Yes.: The drainage system of the legs is never perfectly symmetric.  Sometimes it is really asymmetric due to prior injury or infection.

Need to be evaluated: Hand and feet swelling with sunburn symptoms and  symptoms of UTI need to be carefully evaluated by a doctor . These could be early indications of auto immune disorders . Your symptoms should be taken into account with further detailed history and exam.

It depends: It depends on the location. Behind the thigh in the mid to upper thigh region would be unusual. If it is lower down near the knee then that is not uncommon and may represent a cyst or fluid filled cavity. It would be important to know whether you are talking about a swollen area (muscle strain), a discrete mass (tumor or fatty lump), or a fluctuant area (fluid filled space).

Complicated question: Liver and kidney are two major metabolic morgans in the body. Simply speaking, they are the factories to generate the products that the body can use and eliminate the side products that body will not use or too much. Once they fail to function normally, fluid with those material cannot be eliminated, fluid will accumulate inside the body.

can cancer cause severe edema? if so what kind of cancers can cause you to retain fluid. all other tests were normal. i need help.

Yes: Generalized edema is due to low Albumin levels in the serum and not frequently seen with cancer.  Edema of the extremities can be caused by cancer in the pelvis obstruction the return flow of blood from pressure on in iliac vessels. This js a  more frequent finding.

why is it when i have any kind of infection in my system i retain fluids? had that happen when i had a parcreas infection and now with a gum infection

Fluid retention: There are various causes of fluid retention, but in your case hormonal factors, more salt use or medications taken during infections are most likely causes. When you were treated for pancreatitis I presume you had significant iv fluids administered leading to some fluid retention.
