hi. for almost 2 months im having muscle contrations around my eyelid.mostly the upper and the outer corner. blinks more with stress .. mostly intermittent.i tried lots rest eye drops and heat. any idea what is?optomertrist only sees some dryness?

Muscle Twitching: Muscle twitching is caused by minor muscle contractions in the area. It is neurological. Causes include lack of nutrients in the diet, medication side effects, lack of sleep, too much caffeine/exercise/stress, medical conditions that cause metabolic disorders, including low potassium, kidney disease, and uremia. Calcium /Magnesium supplement may help. If symptoms continue see a regular DR.

i read a lot. at what intervals between reading should i rest my eye and what should i do to rest it?  what's the proper distance to read a book?

OK: Take a break every 20 minutes looking off into the distance for two minutes.  Average reading distance is 14 inches.

Artificial tears: Preservative free artificial tears are the best things for irritated eyes, however consider an evaluation with your local eye doctor to make sure it is not a more serious condition.

TV: Reading moves your eyes too much, but tv at a distance does not.  You need plenty of dvds or other videos.  Video gaming is questionable.  The idea is to keep your eye at rest.

Sharp pain: Eye pain may be caused by migraine, foreign body in the eye, cluster headache, syndrome of sharp stabbing pain, etc.  If the pain is persistent, please see your local eye doctor for care.

hi i have yellow tint to the upper portion of my eyeballs what could this be? it's only when i lift the upper lid . the rest of my eye is white.

Likely normal: You are probably noticing normal conjunctival tissue variations. The upper eyelid protects the upper eyeball from UV, drying, dust, etc., which generally keeps the tissue thicker and slightly different in its appearance. This is unlike the conjunctiva that is exposed between the eyelids (intrapalpebral) which is generally thinner with more prominent blood vessels.
