: Nothing to worry about. It is not uncommon to see the normal kidney take slightly differing shapes in different individuals.
As long as your kidney function is normal(serum Creatinine is less than 1.4Mg/dl), You can ignore the cortical thinning in your kidney.

very good morning doctors. could a renal kidney mesenteric ultrasound rule in or rule out possible renal kidney multiple myeloma or possible renal kidney amloydisis? could a renal regular renal ultrasound (that is not mesenteric) reveal any of these?

: You can't diagnose multiple myeloma or renal amyloidosis by the ultrasound, regardless what technique you use. These conditions are diagnosed by blood and urine tests, bone marrow biopsy +/- kidney biopsy. Ultrasound may reveal the suspicious findings but not the diagnosis. Take care.

still waiting on my most recent labs but my labs from last week my gfr was 84? this is still a normal value correct? hydronephrosis r kidney no obstruction on ct, scheduled to have renal ultrasound to verify on 1/16.

Yes: The hydronephrosis may only indicate an anatomical variant if your ct revealed no obstruction. The ultrasound can assess if your tubes between the kidney and bladder (ureters) are flowing into the bladder.

30 yr old female. had renal ultrasound for micro hematuria. left ureter jet wasn't firing. kidney blood test normal. could this be cancer?

Blood in urine: It is not likely that you have a cancer.  I see you are taking anticoagulant meds.  This can predispose to hematuria.  Given the ultrasound finging of what could be slowed urine passage thru one ureter, coupled to microhematuria, I recommend further dialogue with your docs.  An IVP or better, a CT-IVP is a valuable next test.

Urinal in bathroom: I assume you mean a urethral stone or maybe something else but a urinal is not an anatomic structure. Stones come in all sizes and may spontaneously pass. Stones may originate anywhere along the urinary system but many start in he kidneys and pass through te ureters to the bladder and then the urethra on their way out of the body. Youse have caught one in transit or it may be stuck. If latter it.

Ultrasound: It is absolutely pain free. Involves no radiation, and the sound waves used to scan cannot be felt by anymeans. It will not adversely affect your kidney or sorrounding tissues.

Renal ultrasound.: Renal ultrasound can find blockages of the urine in the urinary tract or bladder, blockages of the arteries the feed the kidneys blood, kidney size, kidney cysts (and polycystic kidney disease), sometimes but not always kidney stones, and kidney tumors.Since it uses sound waves to create images of the kidney, it is safe, but operator dependent and the images are subject to erroneous interpretation.

Not typically: An ultrasound can suggest radiographic evidence of medical renal disease but cannot diagnose this.  To make the diagnosis of renal parenchymal disease the radiographic findings must be combined with blood studies of kidney function and sometimes urine studies for protein or a kidney biopsy.

See below: The bladder should be full for this study...
– children who have bladder control should not empty their bladder for two to three hours before the ultrasound scan
– infants who do not have bladder control should have as much fluid as they can tolerate about 30 minutes before the ultrasound scans.
