please let me know if there is any cure for intestinal adhesions thro' alternative healing methods such as reiki?

Afraid not :/: Intestinal adhesions (or areas of the intestine that have grown abnormally "stuck" together, usually after a prior surgery) usually require surgical lysis if they are problematic. Ask your gastroenterologist or GI surgeon if there are any medically supported treatment  alternatives. You can still practice reiki, as it isn't harmful. But do follow up w/ your doc about any necessary tx of adhesions

A lot: There is a lot to be said about it.  They happen most commonly after all abdominal surgeries.  Every time that you have surgery in the abdomen, you will develop intestinal adhesions.  The only time that you need to address is when they cause a bowel obstruction,

Scar tissue:  Scar tissue can form after any abdominal surgery. The more abdominal surgeries one has had and the more complex the surgery the more serious the adhesions. Adhesions can cause other problems such as Bowel obstructions, bloating, abdominal pain. Hope this helps.

Maybe: If the adhesions cause an obstruction of the bowel, that can cause vomiting.  Lots and lots of people have adhesions though, that never cause any problems.

Accepted Answer

Uncertain cause: It's unclear why some people are prone to episodes of intussusception. It's possible that a low fiber diet is promoting dysmotility or making it difficult for the colon to transit stool.  Consider increasing the fiber content of your diet by eating a pound of vegetables and fruits a day and transitioning some/most of your proteins to beans and grains, for longevity and improved colon health.

Barium enems: Capsule endoscopy is contraindicated and not allowed if intessessuption is suspected. They will try to reduced it by using barium enema pressure with a good success or surgery which could be done lapsrosopically

Surgical separation: Labial adhesions or vaginal synechia  where labia of both sides get adherent in midline , causing urinary symptoms , seen in prepubertial females , surgically dissected and separated , also occasionally seen in sexually inactive females and elderly. Initial non surgical treatment  done with estrogen ; steroid creams

just had lysis of adhesions. how long before pain will go away? abdominal adhesions were extensive. on pain meds.

Healing takes time: The time that it takes to heal varies by how extensive the surgery was and if it was done via a large incision or by laparoscopy (inserting a scope into the abdomen and doing the procedure by watching an image on a tv screen.  If the surgery was done by large incision it can take 6-8 weeks to heal about 70%.  If it was done via a laparoscope usually a week is plenty.

i had a laparoscopic appendectomy and lysis of adhesions done 12 days ago. i feel weak and nauseated daily. is this normal?  is recovery longer?

Will recover soon: Type  of surgery you have, return of bowel function will take couple of wks, you will feel better in wk or so, please speak to your surgeon.
