Balanced diet/ water: Large bowel movements are associated with constipation.
The most common cause of constipation is a diet not rich in fruits and vegetables and not enough water.
If you eat at least 5 to 8 servings per day of fruits and veggies and drink at least 1 l of water it will get better.
Fruits  that start with the letter "p" also help you with bowel movements. Don´t forget to keep your body moving!

Yes: Constipation is a frequent complaint during pregnancy.  Occasional laxative use is safe for relief of this common symptom. It is best not to become reliant on laxatives, and adequate exercise, water and fiber are very helpful. Increase fiber gradually to minimize bloating.  Ask your provider which laxatives they have found to be best.

Could be several : Things, but most likeley you are having trouble cleaning up with smeary pasty stools and then returning to have another bowel movement within a few hours. This is being short of fluids by about 40-50 ounces. Remember caffeine in all forms dehydrates. You need 80-100 ounces of caffeine free/alcohol free fluid daily. Might also be internal hemorrhoids giving the sense of incomplete evacuation.

my stool is brown, but when i wipe it has a bright yellowish color. i've also been experiencing reduced bowel movements with very minimal stool. what does this mean?

: This seems okay, the color seems normal, and may change depending on the food you eat.
You want to have stool consistency of a banana, so if it's very little and hard, you may have constipation in which adequate water intake, high fiber diet, and exercise can help.  If you have persistent abdominal pain/nausea, or if your stool color is persistently pale, you should see a doctor.

Diet/fiber/exam: certainly add fiber to your diet and avoid any laxative use. Cereals, fresh fruit and vegetables with lots of water. Metamucil, bran and oatmeal are excellent sources of fiber. I suggest a GI exam and evaluation.

: There is a wide variation on what is normal for bowel movements. This depends on you, where you live, your diet, ex revise and state of hydration.

: Anxiety or stress certainly could have this effect. You should speak with your doctor about the best option for you. The main choices may be whether to treat the possible underlying problem (e.g. anxiety treatment, e.g. alprazolam, i.e. Xanax® or similar drug) or to try treating the symptom with a GI anti-motility drug (e.g. loperamide, i.e. Imodium®) an hour before work or class.
