i started off feeling sick with a tight chest, dry cough, head blocked etc. went to doc and she gave me antibiotics, cortisone injection, acc200. had some wheezing in my chest. today i have noticed red spots on my body?

Possible allergic...: Red spots on the body with new medications could indicate possible allergic reaction. Need a Face to Face physical evaluation . So best to go back to the prescribing doctor soonest

se asian female 30+ had cortisone injection into a cystic acne under skin on face 3 days ago.bump is raised more than before but doesn't look red hot or infected.i thought cortisone normaly shrinks the cyst?  is this normal,or is more
time needed?

: It will look bigger initially because the cortisone is fluid-so, fluid got injected and this will raise the lesion initially. Once the cortisone gets absorbed by the body, hopefully it will decrease the acne. Follow up with your doctor right away if it begins to look infected-red, warm to touch, pus coming out, etc. Best of luck to you!

i have tennis elbow which i have had 3 cortisone injection now my elbow look a red and purple in colour the last injection was in september last year?

Local reaction: The skin and overlying tissues can be altered by the steroid injection. There is sometimes a thinning of the skin and a loss of the subcutaneous (under the skin) fat that renders the appearance reddish purple. It may improve over time. I would limit injections to no more than three. If the tennis elbow returns, consider surgery. Before that, identify the cause and avoid the activity or wear brace.

i had a cortisone injection 2 days ago and now my face is very red and feels so hot! called my doctors office and they said these issues are very uncommon and for me to call my primary care physician! what should i do?

: This is a very uncommon reaction to cortisone injections, so your symptoms could be due to something else.  Your doctor is right -- call your primary care physician.

Anxiety: Please modify our medication taking. I suggest you take celexa, (citalopram) if you do not take it yet, starting with 10 mg twice a day and increase to 20 mg twice per day.  Celexa (citalopram) is very good on anxiety control and improving pain tolerance. By the way, you should stop short acting narcotics. The more narcotics use, the more problem will be.

butt itches bad. could be dry skin. on which parts of the butt area is hydrocortisone not recommended?

Hard to say: The most delicate skin on the buttocks would be the area around the anus. Hydrocortisone would need to be used carefully there. However, some causes of itching in that area would not respond to hydrocortisone. Pin worms for one, yeast or fungal infection for another, and a bacterial infection also wouldn't do well with hydrocortisone.

finger tip numbness with dry skin there. should i use hydrocortisone on it?

Give it a try...: ...But if the numbness persists, you should see your doctor to make sure you don't have a neurologic problem of some sort.

can hydrocortisone 1% be used for dry skin on the eye lids? if so for how long?

Accepted Answer

Carefully: Hydrocortisone 1%, despite the disclaimer on the tube, can be used lightly on the lids.  Take care to avoid getting it in the eyes.  It is not the best remedy for skin that is simply dry but if there is some aspect of eczema or inflammation, it might be helpful.
