2. Allergy to food, inhalants or drugs
3. Insect bites like bed bugs, spider bites
4. Autoimmunity
5. Hereditary cause of hives (rare)
6. Acquired deficiency of complement level (also rare).

Allergic reaction: Any sensation of throat swelling, trouble breathing or marked weakness(from low bp) would be reasons to go to the hospital emergency room for prompt attention. Take an antihistamine like benadryl(can cause drowsiness) or claritin(is nondrowsy). You may have reacted to the salmon and thus I would avoid eating it as the next reaction could be much more serious. Consult an allergist for further advic

Hives vs bites: The question is whether these are bites or hives indicating an allergic response to something internal or external. If the welts clear after a day only to appear elsewhere, this would favor an allergic reaction to food,medication,etc rather than insect bites which last several days at each site. Antihistamines relieve hives and the itching of bites. See your MD as needed.

Pruritic welts: May be allergic, could try benedryl and see if helps. May also be eczema or fungal  for while topical antifungal for fungus  and steroid for eczema may help. F/u/ w/ doc
