Swelling & erythema: And calor are signs of infection.  Could be several things including but not limited to: insect bite (spider while sleeping), folliculitis, or comedo.  Apply heat and see your pcp if worsens, enlarges or lingers.

Aim away from septum: Intranasal steroid sprays are the most effective medication treatment for seasonal and year round allergies.  The spray tip should be aimed "away" from the nasal septum to help decrease the risk of nose bleeds. The opposite nostril is plugged and when the sprayed, a gentle sniff in.   Using a nasal steroid spray will make the nasal membranes appear red.

Sounds right: Did you take the antibiotic?  Sounds like that nasal hair plucking is giving you an infection. Take your antibiotic and stop plucking the nasal hairs

Stop picking: If the tipis getting swollen it may be boil that is coming or acne like lesion or some type of infection developing.  Be careful how  you cleanse your nose and see how it progresses. If persist you need to see an ENT&gt;

Nasal Swelling: Apply an ice pack for a couple of minutes a few times today and see if the swelling regresses. If it worsens or doesn't improve then consider seeing a doctor. Also, take a picture since this can help the doctor.

Serious!: The location of this infection is the real problem. Infections in the region of the nose, forehead and upper lip can spread quickly and even track back to the brain. You may need IV antibiotics. Please return to your doctor or hospital right away.

Sinus or virus: Most likely but could be clogged meibomian glands, beginning of shingles (if immunocompromised or under stress); see MD and eyeMD also to rule out narrow angle and other causes of headache. Or consult with us.
