good day. i've had burning while urinating and red spots in genital area. std tests~a month ago-all negative. urologist thinks prostatitis. thoughts?

CPPS?: Prostatitis or infections that cause it don't cause "red spots"; separate problems. At age 28, most apparent prostatitis is chronic pelvic pain syndrome. CPPS overlaps with prostatitis but there is no infection; urinary discomfort or pain are from pelvic muscle tension, often anxiety driven, e.g. after a regretted sexual exposure. OK to try cipro (ciprofloxacin) per urologist's advice, but it may not work.

Many possibilities: Spots & rashes are hard to describe in words, so a primary care doctor or dermatologist can evaluate. Genital rash can be folliculitis (hair follicles affected), small pustules (bacteria), irritation from friction, candida (yeast), tinea (fungus), pubic lice bites, other insect bites, an allergy to a substance or clothing, heat rash (sweat glands affected), "hot tub" rash (bacteria), eczema, etc..

i am currently taking acyclovir 400 mg twice a day for genital herpes, i am still getting scratches, teeny red spots, and rashes! is this normal?

Nondiagnostic: Without seeing the eruption one would be hard pressed to make a diagnosis. Have your physician or a dermatologist examine you for diagnosis and treatment.

Herpes simplex: Herpetic lesions are usually vesicles (blisters) and are often quite painful and tender. These do not sound like Herpes, but the only way to be sure is to go and be checked.

Time for Dr visit: The multitudinous list of symptoms you described sounds a little more complicated than scabies.  Please go see a Doctor today.! Decreased urine out sounds your kidneys are failing.

i've had forcyde spots in my genital area since i was younger and noticed lichen planus more recently. no pain. is this normal?

Yes and no: The Fordyce spots are normal, however if you have Lichen Planus it is not "normal". However, the cause is usually unknown.  It has been associated with Hep B, C, chemical exposure, ACE inhibitor use, NSAID use. Talk to your doctor about the rash.

Could be: Lichen sclerosis. In the absence of more details it could also be an std. Rashes are hard to diagnose without a visual, so i would recommend you see your doctor.

Fordyce: Fordyce glands.  These are benign and should cause no problem.
